New North Pole Social Command Listening Center "turns tables" by allowing every girl and boy to rank Santa on a "Naughty or Nice" Scale; Elves Reported Unhappy with Exclusion
North Pole, December 15, 2011 -- In a clear recognition that social listening intelligence has become essential for all brands, it was learned today that the North Pole has launched a new social listening initiative, www.santamentscore.com, that will track the expressed sentiment of individuals towards Santa through Twitter. The goal of the effort is to generate better insights into overall performance, identify areas of improvement and otherwise generate insights that can be utilized for campaign development.
"The power of social media in 2011 hasn't gone unnoticed by the North Pole. This new approach simply turns tables on the whole keeping a list of naughty and nice boys and girls thing," says confidential source who is familiar with the deal but unauthorized to speak officially. "Now Santa will get rated just like everyone else — and it's about time. The initiative will analyze all tweets using proprietary sentiment scoring technology as well as keep track of Tweets through the #santanice or #santanaughty hashtags.
Elves has been excluded from participation via Santa's social policy which has generated some consternation and criticism by some social media experts. "This is the first year of the initiative and headquarters wants to see how this goes first before expanding efforts," says our source. "There simply isn't the optimal business processes in place to rapidly act on the insights at this point anyhow. We expect this listening effort will be the impetus for some transformation."
Converseon, the leading social media agency and social intelligence solutions company, was chosen for the effort after an extensive RFP process for the assignment.
As part of this, For every tweet with the hashtags, Converseon will donate $1 dollar to Toys for Tots, up to $1,000.
